Alexander has made 900 appearances since his debut in 1990
Veteran Burnley defender Graham Alexander admits his move to the club came at the right time in his career.
The Scotland international made his 100th league appearance for the Clarets in Saturday's 2-0 win over Hull City.
"You've got to enjoy football no matter what it throws at you," the 38-year-old told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"It's been fantastic to be here over such a great period and hopefully it'll continue this season and we'll achieve what we want."
Alexander is currently the oldest outfield player in the league.
There's no better place to play football than in the Premier League
Burnley defender Graham Alexander
He joined Burnley from local rivals Preston for £100,000 in 2007 following an eight-year spell at Deepdale.
The Coventry-born player was involved in the club's rise to the Premier League having helped them win the Championship play-off final against Sheffield United in May.
"I only found out during the week that it was my 100th league appearance," said Alexander.
"There's no better place to play football than in the Premier League and every single one of us has worked hard for it.
"We deserve our shot at it but it's important for everyone of us to prove themselves at this level."
