Anderson made his Scotland debut in 2002

Burnley defender Russell Anderson has been ruled out for the rest of the season with damaged knee ligaments.

The 29-year-old picked up the injury during the club's Carling Cup victory over Fulham on Tuesday.

Scans have now confirmed the Scotland international damaged his cruciate in an innocuous fall.

Anderson, who joined the Clarets on loan from Sunderland in August, has made five appearances since arriving at Turf Moor.
