Akinbiyi had been a crowd favourite at Stoke |
Burnley have signed Ade Akinbiyi from Stoke City for 600,000 on a three-and-a-half-year deal - subject to the striker passing a medical. Sheffield United had also agreed the same fee for Akinbiyi, 30, but the former Wolves and Leicester forward decided to join the Clarets.
"We're delighted to have Ade on board," said Burnley manager Steve Cotterill.
"He's an infectious character, a leader and has had some big money moves that now top 12m," added Cotterill.

"He's very charismatic and has time for everyone. He's a very popular lad who is very fit and hard working, so he'll fit into the dressing room very well."
Akinbiyi said that the deal was clinched after speaking to Cotterill, Frank Sinclair and assistant manager Dave Kevan.
"It took quite a while to sort out, because at the time I didn't really want to leave Stoke because I thought I was getting on well there," said Akinbiyi.
"I liked what Steve Cotterill had to say and decided to sign here," he added.
Akinbiyi joined Stoke on a free transfer from Crystal Palace at the start of last season.
He could make his debut against Preston on Saturday.
Stoke director of football John Rudge said: "Both clubs had offers accepted by us and it was down to Ade to make his choice.
"We are obviously disappointed to lose Ade but everybody has a price. The board of directors put that price on his head and two clubs met it.
"Ade has been a crowd favourite here and done exceptionally well for us.
"He signed for us after a lull in his career at Leicester and Crystal Palace but got back to his best here and we wish him all the best for the future."
