Bristol Rovers striker Will Hoskins says the side are eager to return to action after Paul Trollope's sacking.

The 24-year-old former Rotherham trainee has scored eight goals in 16 league starts so far this term but said the lack of games has been frustrating.

"We are all disappointed with what happened, me especially, but games take your mind off things and get you going again," Hoskins told BBC Bristol.

"We just want to get out their and start playing again."

Rovers currently lie 21st in League One and have not played since the Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat by Exeter on 14 December, after which former boss Paul Trollope was sacked.

"We need to get ourselves out of this mess and do it for ourselves now," Hoskins continued.

The former Watford player also admitted that he had been boosted by speculation over his future.

"There's nothing better than having a few rumours knocking about," he said. "It gives you that confidence that people are looking at you.

"There's a lot more to come. I want to be the finished article and I'm enjoying doing it here but it's nice having those rumours.

"But I'm loving it here and the fans have helped me settle in so well."
