Bristol Rovers have withdrawn their reserve team from the Football Combination League for next season.

It is understood Rovers, who finished eighth in the Wales and West division last season, have made the decision as a cost-cutting exercise.

Rovers will now have to arrange friendly fixtures or send players out on loan to gain match experience.

The withdrawal puts the position of head of youth Kevin Hodges, who joined the club in 2006, in doubt.
