Higgs is sure Rovers were right to halt the redevelopment

Bristol Rovers vice chairman Nick Higgs remains hopeful that the club's �35m redevelopment of the Memorial Stadium will eventually go ahead.

The project has been put on hold for 12 months after the club's preferred developer pulled out of the deal to build student flats.

"We've got a very good scheme and see no reason why it shouldn't go ahead," Higgs told BBC Radio Bristol.

"It's complicated but we are confident we can bring in another company."

Higgs also insists it was a tough decision to postpone the development just months after final planning permission was secured.

"It was an interesting board meeting and everyone had different views but we've always said we won't put Bristol Rovers at risk because of this project," he said.

"What is best for the football club will happen and ultimately we feel that we have made the right decision."
