Nicky Maynard targets top scorer award at Bristol City
Maynard scored 21 goals for the Robins last season
Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard has said he is still hoping to finish as the club's top scorer this season.
Maynard, 24, got off the mark in his first start of the season in the 3-1 win at Watford on Tuesday after battling back from a knee injury.
He told BBC Radio Bristol: "My aim is to be the top scorer as I have been the last two seasons. I think it's important to set yourself a target."
Brett Pitman is the Robins' current leading scorer with 10 goals.
Maynard added: "I realise it's going to be very difficult, but I'm up for it.
"Fair play to Brett, he took his goal brilliantly (against Watford) so I know it's going to be a real challenge."
It was the striker's third appearance of the season having made his first team return as a substitute in the 2-0 defeat at home to Leeds on 12 February.
"It was a bad pitch so I was made up to get through 75 minutes," added Maynard.
"In terms of my knee I felt fine, I was a bit tired at the end but that's to be expected.
"To score was a bit of an emotional moment personally. But the most important thing is the three points."
