Best result of the season - Stead

Striker Jon Stead has hailed Bristol City's 1-0 win at Swansea as the club's best result of the season and insists things are looking up at Ashton Gate.

Stead scored the game's only goal to help City out of the relegation zone and make it five matches unbeaten.

"I felt when I joined the club they were going places and moving forward," he told BBC Points West.

"There was a bit of a stutter and a setback at the start of the season, but I think we're getting there now."

He added: "We have to remember we are still down at the bottom of the table and there's a lot to do, but if we carry on the way we're going the results will come."

Stead's fifth-minute tap-in was only the second goal the third-placed Swans have conceded at home this season and was enough to secure City a second successive away win to go with a victory and two draws at home in their unbeaten run.

Leeds United lie in wait next on the fixture list and Stead is looking forward to the trip to Elland Road.

"Now we need to finish off the week on Saturday with a good result at Leeds," he added.

"I'm a Huddersfield lad so doing over Leeds is very important to me personally.

"It's a difficult game for us, but we're hitting it with a lot of confidence, we're doing well at the minute and we should carry on believing in ourselves and believing in what we're doing, like the management are, and we'll keep pushing forward."

Keith Millen's side will go into the Leeds game out of the relegation zone for the first time in almost two months and Stead says that is bound to help the squad's confidence.

"I don't know about anybody else, but it makes a massive difference to me," Stead said.

"You see the league table and it's disappointing to see your team in the bottom three because I feel responsible for that.

"We work extremely hard for each other and you can see that on the pitch, you have to do that when you're down the bottom of the table and if we can continue that as we climb the table then who knows what can happen."
