Midfielder Cole Skuse has signed a new contract with Bristol City which will keep him at the Championship club until summer 2013.

The 24-year-old was voted player of the year by City supporters last season.

"The end of the last season finished on a big high for me with the award," Skuse told the club's website.

"Then I got a phone call from the club to say they had a new contract offer. It didn't take me long to sign it at all," he added.

Skuse, who is a product of City's youth set-up, made his first-team debut as a substitute against Colchester United in February 2005.

He signed his first professional contract two months later.

"I've always been a Bristol City fan, all my family and friends are based here. Some say to me I'm stuck in the comfort zone but that's not true,." he said.

"We're in the Championship, pushing for the Premier League with a new manager and everything about the club, including the new training ground and stadium, is moving in the right direction."
