Bristol City defender Liam Fontaine will be out for a minimum of three weeks with damaged ankle ligaments.
The 23-year-old suffered the injury in the defeat at Derby on 26 September.
"Liam's injury is worse than we feared. He went for a scan on Monday and it showed up ligament damage," manager Gary Johnson told the club's website.
Fontaine will almost certainly miss the forthcoming games against Peterborough United, Plymouth Argyle, Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday.
Fellow defender Jamie McAllister looks set to return to training after being substituted with a shin injury against Newcastle United on Saturday.
