Utility player Wilson required "aggressive surgery" to treat the injury
Bristol City's Brian Wilson has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery for an on-going shin splints problem.
The 25-year-old, who can play at right-back or on the right side of midfield, is expected to be out for four months.
But boss Gary Johnson says Wilson, who arrived from Cheltenham in January 2007 and is out of contract in the summer, will be offered a new deal by the club.
Wilson, who last played on 28 December, has made 21 appearances this season.
