Johnson spoilt for player choice

Gary Johnson
Bristol City boss Gary Johnson believes competition is healthy

Bristol City manager Gary Johnson says he is spoilt for choice with 26 players now fit and available for Saturday's match against Nottingham Forest.

"We've got some good players available [after returning from injury]," he told BBC Radio Bristol. "We've got to disappoint one or two of them."

But Johnson said the bonus of having a big squad was competition for places.

"When they do become available and they show they are 100 per cent, then they get their opportunity."

City sit in 10th place but a win at Ashton Gate over Forest could see them climb into the play-off places, depending on other results.

Johnson said his squad has been training intensely following their humbling 4-1 loss at home to Reading on 1 November.

"If we win on Saturday, we're exactly at the same point where we were last year." he added.

Defenders Andy Webster and Christian Riberio remain the only two players not available for team selection because of injury.
