Wilson makes Bristol City return

Bristol City

Defender James Wilson has returned to Bristol City after completing a three-month loan spell at Brentford.

City manager Gary Johnson told the club website: "Brentford did very well in his time there and he was part of that.

"He's proved to himself and to us that he's going to be a very good player in the future."

Wilson said: "I really enjoyed the loan spell and it's given me lots of experience. I feel like I've improved in every department."

The 19-year-old made 16 appearances for the Bees, who currently lie ninth in League Two.

There has been speculation that Wilson could return to Brentford in January, but Johnson said that is unlikely.

"There's always interest to keep a player when de does well," he added.

"But they have to remember that he's our Championship player and we need to see where we go when we get to that stage."
