Bristol City want public opinion

Ashton Gate
Bristol City have played at Ashton Gate for 104 years

Bristol City will invite the public to have their say in the plans for the new 30,000 capacity stadium at Ashton Vale, in a series of exhibitions.

The Championship club intend to submit planning permission for the proposed stadium in early 2009.

City chairman Steve Lansdown told the club website: "The exhibitions will give residents the opportunity to discuss the development of the site.

"They have a great deal of local knowledge and insight."

"The exhibitions will give residents the opportunity to discuss the development of the site and we look forward to receiving their feedback, which will help form the final proposals.

"A new stadium would bring substantial benefits for both the club and the city as a whole, creating a world-class sports facility, strengthening the local economy and driving the ongoing regeneration of south Bristol."

The exhibitions will be held at the Ashton Gate Stadium and at Long Ashton Village Hall early November.

The new stadium on the 42-acre site is expected to be ready in time for the 2011/12 season.
