Moteab is waiting for his work permit from the Home Office
Bristol City's record signing Emad Moteab will be given English lessons when he arrives in the country.
The 25-year-old has spent his entire career in Egypt and his interviews since signing for City have been through an interpreter.
"His English is ok, and he understands more than he speaks," City manager Gary Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol.
"He's a good lad and he is only 25 years of age so he's young enough to learn the language properly."
I was talking to him about Bristol and I could see as we took him around the city he was very impressed
Chief executive Colin Sexstone
City's chief executive Colin Sexstone had the job of selling the city of Bristol to the Egyptian when he came over for his medical this week.
Sexstone added: "His English is ok when it's one-to-one, but it's harder with a crowd of people babbling away, and we'll be helping him improve on that.
"He was across this week and I was talking to him about Bristol and I could see as we took him around the city he was very impressed."
Meanwhile, City play Rushden and Diamonds on Friday in the Estadio Capitao Josino Da Costa before heading home from Portugal.
Both Gavin Williams and Marvin Elliot will miss out again because of a lack of fitness.
