Bristol City goalkeeper Adriano Basso is relishing the opportunity to achieve his dream of Premier League football via the Championship play-off final.
The 33-year-old had an unsuccessful trial at Arsenal after arriving in the UK, and played for Woking until he was signed by the Robins in October 2005.
"I came straight away to Premier League teams to do trials and lot of things happened," he told BBC Points West.
"But I never gave up on my dreams and always believed I could achieve this."
"I came to Bristol, they gave me the opportunity to show myself so we are nearly there," he added.
The Brazilian shot-stopper is looking forward to showing the pundits back home what he is capable of, as Championship games are not usually screened on Brazilian TV.
"To be honest many people don't know I am here because people in the media don't know I have been here, but this game is going to be shown in Brazil and now they're going to watch in Brazil so they can see more of me."
Cannot play media. Sorry, this media is not available in your territory.
Basso's family are going to be able to watch him in action on television for the first time, as he was suspended for the Robins' last appearance on the small screen.
"One day my Mum turned on the TV and it was Bristol City v Middlesbrough and I wasn't in the game because I got sent off in the league," he told BBC Radio Bristol.
"She said 'you lied to me, you said you were first-choice goalkeeper - I watched and you weren't there!' and it was the only opportunity they could have watched me."
'Good support from Australia'
Bristol City midfielder Nick Carle is also hoping to help the Robins attract a worldwide audience, in his native Australia.
"All the play-off finals have been shown on TV so they're watched a few games already," said the former Newcastle Jets player.
"It should be two or three in the morning back home but I'm sure they'll be up and watching the game and cheering us on.
"I'm very pleased that I'm getting good support from Australia - I loved my time playing back home and at the end of my career I can't wait to get back there.
"I'm really enjoying playing in front of the Bristol support and hopefully we can get into the Premier League."
Carle is certain that he made the right decision to come to Bristol in January from Turkish club Genlerbirligi.
"I've been lucky to come to such a good changing room - they've all made me feel so welcome and I really feel a part of it, I've really enjoyed my time here."
