Bristol City plan loyalty scheme

Interview: Bristol City chief executive Colin Sexstone

Bristol City chief executive Colin Sexstone says the club hope to bring in a loyalty card scheme next season to help allocate tickets for big games.

Some fans have been frustrated in their attempts to buy seats for the play-off matches against Crystal Palace.

"Once you've gone past season ticket holders, we realise we have another group that come regularly both here and away," Sexstone told BBC Points West.

"We hope next year to give bonus points for each game that you attend."

"That will obviously go towards you when we go to a second priority group."

It's been a big success, but that's obviously no consolation to those who tried to get through and couldn't

Sexstone concedes that once demand for play-off tickets from season ticket-holders has been met it is difficult to distinguish between regulars and casual fans.

"The priority group for the home game was season ticket-holders and then we go on to general sale which I'm afraid means it's a first-come-first-served basis, " he said.

But the Robins' chief executive feels that outsourcing the play-off ticketing operation has improved the service to the fans:

"They probably had 60 or 70 operatives on the phone when the most we could have done at Ashton Gate was probably six.

"From that point of view it's been a big success, but that's obviously no consolation to those who tried to get through and couldn't."
