Bristol City goalkeeper Adriano Basso has revealed that divine inspiration helped him save a penalty in Tuesday night's goalless draw against Watford. "To be honest many people don't understand or don't believe," the Brazilian, who is a devout Christian, explained to BBC Radio Bristol.
"But I ask the Holy Spirit where they're going to kick.
"He said 'left' and I said 'thank you'. I went to the left side and I saved the ball, so today I was very blessed."
City manager Gary Johnson picked out Basso's save from Darius Henderson's spot-kick as his highlight of the game, and the 32-year-old agrees.
"It was good because it kept the team in the game. We couldn't have many chances to win the game but we keep the season alive.
"We keep strong, we keep at the top of the table and that's important."
