Taricco played with new Albion boss Gus Poyet at Tottenham Hotspur
Brighton assistant manager Mauricio Taricco has said he is looking forward to the challenge of his new role at the Withdean Stadium.
The 36-year-old Argentine arrives at Albion with new boss Gus Poyet, who was appointed Tuesday.
"I was living abroad when Gus called me. I said yes straight away," Taricco told BBC Sussex.
"I'm looking forward to learning from him and helping him to pass his ideas on to the players."
The former Ipswich and Tottenham Hotspur defender added: "He [Poyet] is a man who wants to do it his way.
"He's got a different personality to mine. He's more uplifting and more positive, whereas I'm a little more quiet.
"We are two people who are honest with each other and we understand each other very well. I'm delighted to be working with a person like him."
Poyet, who played with Taricco at Spurs, said: "We understand football the same way. I know I can count on him all the time, whether I am there or not.
"As a person, he's different to me. He compliments my way of dealing with the players very well. He's that person every manager wants to have next to him".
