Brighton midfielder Gary Hart is thrilled to be back in the Albion squad after a turbulent 12 months.
Hart was released by former boss Dean Wilkins in May last year before being offered a new deal by Mickey Adams.
However, he needed surgery on a knee injury and missed six months before finally returning on 7 April.
Hart, 32, told BBC Sussex: "I expected to be out for the rest of the season. I've got myself back early and got involved, which is good."
After impressing for the reserves, Hart's first-team comeback began with a substitute appearance in the 2-1 win over Hereford on 7 April, his first match in Albion colours since the 1-0 home defeat by Walsall back in September.
Hart is thankful to former boss Adams for insisting he underwent surgery.
"He said to me you've got to have it done otherwise it will be a year before you can play again.
"I have to thank him for letting me have the opportunity to go and have it done, and now it feels great."
Hart is expected to feature for Brighton, who are three points adrift of safety in League One, against Oldham on Saturday.
