Kazim-Richards has said he wants to leave Withdean |
Boss Mark McGhee hopes to persuade striker Colin Kazim-Richards to stay at Brighton, despite his transfer request. "For me, Colin has no grounds to be handing in a transfer request," McGhee told the Seagulls' website.
"He is a player with great potential but he's not a one-man band and has to learn to play in a team.
"It would be no different if Colin were transferred anywhere else - the manager would demand that he plays the way that he wants him to play."
The 19-year-old joined Albion from Bury last summer and signed a three-year contract.
McGhee added: "When he came on as sub on Saturday, he was very disappointing.
"His body language was wrong, and it later transpired he had already decided to hand in a transfer request.
"But within the structure we've got, he'll have plenty of opportunity to express himself with the things we know he can do brilliantly.
"We'll keep working with Colin to convince him that this is the case, and that he does have a future here."
