McGhee welcomes Henderson swoop
Wayne Henderson
Henderson has finally completed his move to the south coast
Brighton boss Mark McGhee is pleased to have finally signed Aston Villa goalkeeper Wayne Henderson - but says Michel Kuipers is first choice for now.

Republic of Ireland Under-21 star Henderson, 22, will cost Albion 20,000, plus a further 15,000 if they avoid relegation from the Championship.

"They're as good a combination as any in the division," McGhee told BBC Southern Counties Radio.

"Wayne's distribution is top drawer, as is Michel's shot-stopping."

He added: "If you fused the two of them, you would have the England keeper - or a half Irish, half Dutch one!

"Michel has found his form and appetite again - it's taken the threat of Wayne or someone coming to do that."

Henderson enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Withdean Stadium earlier this season - and has finally made the move permanent, after a row over an agent's fee had put it in doubt.

He has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at Withdean.
