Busy Brentford sign striker Cort

Carl Cort
Cort has recently been on trial at Wycombe

Brentford completed their second new signing in the space of 24 hours on Tuesday in a busy week at Griffin Park.

Striker Carl Cort, 31, joined the Bees on a five-month contract on the same day the club announced forward Ben Strevens had broken his fibula.

Fellow front man Nathan Elder has also left the Bees, having agreed an undisclosed move to Shrewsbury Town.

Cort, who cost Newcastle £7m when he moved from Wimbledon in 2000, was released by Norwich in May this year.

Goalkeeper Nikki Bull signed from Aldershot on Monday.
