Redman could not prevent Arbroath being relegated to Division Three
Jim Weir has tipped Jamie Redman for bigger things after returning to former club Arbroath to make his first signing as Brechin City manager.
Midfielder Redman, 23, has signed a one-year contract with Brechin after leaving the Red Lichties following their relegation from Division Two.
"He reminds me of Murray Davidson at St Johnstone," said Weir.
"And, while Murray is obviously playing in the SPL, I believe Jamie has it in him to step up a level as well."
Redman played 28 times for Arbroath this season, but he and Weir could not prevent them losing out to Forfar Athletic in the play-offs and dropping down a division.

"Jamie is a great kid to work with," said the manager who moved to Brechin, the side that themselves suffered play-off defeat and failed to win promotion to Division One.
"He's a really fit lad who'll do anything that's asked of him. He's also brave and gets goals from the middle of the park."
Meanwhile, 36-year-old defender Barry Smith, who had initially joined Brechin on loan from Dundee, has agreed a new deal.
Midfielder Neil Janczyk, 27, has also signed on again for another year at Glebe Park.
