Bradford City boss Peter Taylor has handed midfielder David Syers a 10-month deal, with the option for a second season.
The 22-year-old signed on non-contract terms on Tuesday and scored the equaliser in City's 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest in the Carling Cup.
He could make his Football League debut on Saturday against Stevenage after being named in their squad.
Syers has played for Ossett Town, Farsley Celtic and Harrogate Town.
