The offer was Wigan boss Paul Jewell's third attempt to bring Windass to the JJB Stadium.

Wigan made the bid at 1900 BST on Thursday 31 August, five hours before the transfer window closed.

But the Bantams chairman Julian Rhodes decided the amount of money on offer was not enough to part with Windass.

Windass was said to be "disappointed" by Bradford's decision not to inform him of the bid.

Bradford boss Colin Todd said the decision was solely the chairman's.

"It was his prerogative and he dealt with it the way he thought was best," Todd told BBC Sport.

"I'm happy we've held on to somebody who can get the team 20 goals in a season."
