Cherries stand-in keeper Stewart had spells at Weymouth and Portsmouth

AFC Bournemouth boss Lee Bradbury insists goalkeeper Jon Stewart is determined to turn round his career.

Stewart, 22, returned for Saturday's 2-2 draw with Charlton at Dean Court following a two-week suspension imposed by the club for poor discipline.

And although first choice Shwan Jalal could return from injury for Friday night's clash with Peterborough, Bradbury has kept the door open.

"He's come back and apologised and wants to give it a go," said Bradbury.

"He realises what a chance he's got.

"You've just got to look at the size of him, his stature," the Cherries boss told BBC Radio Solent. "He's got all the attributes to be a great keeper."

Stewart, signed from Weymouth in September 2010 to become the Cherries' third keeper behind Jalal and Dan Thomas, was suspended for what the club called 'breaches of discipline and a poor attitude to training.'

But with Jalal out, he came in to make only his fourth appearance of the season.

"Jon just gets a little bit frustrated when he's not playing," added Bradbury. "But all players do.

"I've said to him he needs to go the other way and prove he's worthy of playing week in, week out, so he got the nod."
