Bournemouth have confirmed Lee Bradbury as their new manager, with Steve Fletcher as his assistant, on two-and-half-year deals.

Bradbury took temporary charge of the Cherries when Eddie Howe left to manage Burnley this month.

"We're really pleased to be appointed on a permanent basis," he told BBC Radio Solent. "I'm looking forward to getting stuck in and giving it 100%."

The 35-year-old former Manchester City striker has now retired as a player.

Bradbury, who took charge of his first game against Rochdale on 18 January, added: "We've had backing from the chairman behind the scenes, and now we want to finish what we've started and try to get promoted.

"This opportunity was one I couldn't let pass me by. Eddie and Jason [Tindall] did fantastically well here, and now it's our time to make an impact."

It has also been announced that 38-year-old club captain Fletcher will continue playing.

"Fletch has been a really big help and, on the playing side, remains a big threat," Bradbury said.

"With the team we've got, we have the best chance of being successful."
