Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell missed the moment the Cherries were promoted to League One as he flew back from Dubai this weekend.
Mitchell was stranded when volcanic ash grounded flights into the UK and flew back on Saturday afternoon.
"I was about 38,000 feet in the air when we got promoted although I managed to have a few drinks on the plane," Mitchell told BBC Radio Solent.
"When I got off the plane I switched my phone on and was inundated with texts."
