Eddie Howe has been given the task of keeping Bournemouth in the Football League after being appointed full-time manager until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old former Cherries centre-half had been in caretaker charge since the club parted company with Jimmy Quinn on New Year's Eve.
"It's going to be a huge challenge," Howe told BBC Radio Solent.
"But I think it's a task we can succeed in. I'm looking forward to it, and we need results quickly."
Chief executive Alastair Saverimutto told BBC Radio Solent: "Eddie has the strategic vision and intelligence to go forward.
"We can say come on Eddie, we are going to support you, you've got the job until the end of the season.
"We can see a marked improvement in the team's performance."
Bournemouth sit 10 points from League Two safety following their defeat at Rotherham and Grimsby's win over Wycombe Wanderers.
Referring to his team's quest to stay in the division, Howe said: "I think it's a task we can succeed in.
"We need to get results on the board very quickly and that is going to be my main focus."
