Bournemouth captain Darren Anderton has said the change to a 3-5-1-1 formation made by new manager Jimmy Quinn has helped improve the club's fortunes.
The Cherries have suffered only one defeat in their last five league and cup matches.
After a spell in administration, they started the season on minus 17 points but are now on minus seven.
"We've changed our formation and it suits the players we've got at the club," Anderton told BBC Radio Solent.
"It takes a while to bed in but the boys have been playing really well. I'm really looking forward to the next few weeks."
The new formation has seen Anderton at the heart of a central midfield trio alongside Marvin Bartley and Danny Hollands, with fellow veteran Sammy Igoe playing in the "hole" behind a lone striker.
