Darren Anderton hit the winner as Bournemouth knocked MK Dons out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
Immediately after half-time Flavien Belson received a straight red card for a late challenge on substitute Brett Pitman to leave MK Dons with 10 men.
Anderton almost opened the scoring when his 25-yard strike hit the bar.
But the former England man struck the only goal of the game when he diverted Danny Hollands' shot past Nathan Abbey in the 78th minute.
