Bournemouth boss Jimmy Quinn has said Trevor Benjamin is not good enough to earn a contract at Dean Court.
The much-travelled striker, 29, who has played for 16 Football League clubs, was on trial after leaving Hereford United at the end of last season.
"He's not what I'm looking for, he's probably past his sell-by date," Quinn told BBC Radio Solent.
"As good as he has been in the past, he's probably dropped his standards a little bit."
