Fletcher is delighted to be staying at Bournemouth |
Bournemouth striker Steve Fletcher has signed a new one-year deal to stay on at the club for a 15th season. The 33-year-old is the Cherries' longest-serving player having joined from Hartlepool in 1992 and has made over 500 appearances for the club.
Fletcher was troubled by injuries last season but recovered in the latter part of the campaign.
He told the Echo: "This is my club and I want to stay. It means more to me than anything and is part of my life."
The club captain scored four goals in 10 games to ensure Bournemouth steered clear of the relegation zone in the closing stages of the season.
Fletcher added: "I've had 12-month contracts for the past four years and although I never expect more, I'm always pleased to get one."
