Lee (right) wants to be fair to Anelka |
Bolton boss Sammy Lee has confirmed he would sell striker Nicolas Anelka, but only to a Champions League club. Speculation has surrounded the much-travelled Anelka, 29, all summer, with Arsenal and Lyon strongly linked.
Lee said: "I have to be fair to him, he is 29 and told me he wants Champions League football. So do I, with Bolton.
"But if one of the top four in England or a Champions League club in Europe showed an interest, it would be wrong of me to stand in his way."
Anelka has only spent one season at the Reebok Stadium after being signed by previous Trotters boss Sam Allardyce from Fenerbahce for 8m.
He finished Bolton's top scorer last term, with 11 goals that cast him as a fans favourite.

Lee is adamant he would like to keep the France international at the Reebok.
The Bolton boss said: "You don't have to be a Philadelphia lawyer to work that out. I want people with quality and Nicolas has that.
"I'm not in the business of getting rid of our best players but I have to be fair to everybody. If the deal was fair to all parties, I would not stop him."
