Allardyce rules out Anelka sale
Nicolas Anelka
Anelka has yet to get on the Premiership scoresheet this season
Bolton boss Sam Allardyce has insisted that goal-shy striker Nicolas Anelka is not for sale.

Anelka, 27, faces former club Arsenal on Saturday having so far failed to score in the Premiership since his 8m arrival from Fenerbahce in the summer.

His lack of goals has prompted speculation he may quit the club, with French side Lyon thought to be keen.

But Allardyce said: "We have had no contact with anyone about Nicolas. Even if we did, the answer would be no."

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas' public acknowledgement of admiration for the France international also brought a swift rebuke from Allardyce.

"If the president of Lyon did say he was interested in Nicolas without speaking to us, then he is out of order," added the Trotters chief.

Allardyce also dismissed reports linking club skipper Kevin Nolan with Everton.

"Speculation is bound to surface more and more at this time or year and there is very little we can do about it."
