DJ Campbell is restrained as he squares up to Stearman
Blackpool's DJ Campbell has apologised on Twitter for his red card at Wolves.
Campbell faces a three-match ban after his 43rd-minute dismissal for pushing Wolves defender Richard Stearman in the face with the score at 1-0.
Seasiders boss Ian Holloway described the action as unacceptable and said it cost his side, who went on to lose 4-0.
Campbell tweeted: "I've let my team-mates and you [the fans] down. I know I play with too much passion but that's how I am. I wish I could take it back."
Holloway said Campbell had been riled by a number of fouls but he would not defend the player's action.
Blackpool outfought and outplayed - Holloway
"It's still unacceptable," the Blackpool manager commented. "That's part and parcel of your job but it's out of character...and it really cost us."
Holloway added: "He's lost his cool. I can't defend him, and he didn't help his team out. Normally he helps us out brilliantly, but unfortunately he let us and himself down."
Campbell is set to be suspended for the Seasiders' next three Premier League games - at home to Chelsea on 7 March, the trip to Blackburn on 19 March and the away game at Fulham the following Saturday.
Following their defeat at Wolves, Blackpool find themselves only four points above the relegation zone.
