Loan ranger Stephen Dobbie hopes he can fire Blackpool to the Championship play-offs - and hopes parent club Swansea City qualify for the top-six.

The Seasiders sit just outside the top six, a point behind Leicester City and two behind the fifth-placed Swans.

Dobbie joined Swansea last summer from Queen of the South, but was loaned out in January by new boss Paulo Sousa after falling down the pecking order.

"Sometimes that's the way football works out," said 27-year-old Dobbie.

"You've got to move on to play some games and I moved to Blackpool.

"We've luckily put a run together that put us a couple of points behind Swansea so it's a funny situation."

Swansea are fifth in the Championship and ended a six-match winless run in the 3-0 win over Scunthorpe on Monday, while Blackpool made it four successive wins with a 2-0 victory over Doncaster in which Dobbie scored the second goal.

The start of that four-match run for Ian Holloway's side have was a shock 5-1 win over the usually tight-defence Swans.

Dobbie did not feature in that game under the terms of his loan deal, which runs until the end of the season.

But he did feature in the other three wins, scoring in two of them.

However, Blackpool are playing the chasing game and as well as relying on other results going in their favour, they face a daunting away trip to already-promoted Newcastle before hosting third-place Nottingham Forest.

"We take one game at a time as we've done in the last four," said Dobbie who endured an injury-hit five months in south Wales where he scored three goal in nine games.

"We've given ourselves a chance and that's what we will be aiming for.

"I think a lot of people didn't think we would do as well as we have done this season.

"I think it shows the four wins on the trot and going into next week's game only one point behind Leicester shows the spirit in the team.

"I want Swansea to get there as well because I've got a lot of friends there, but hopefully Blackpool make it as well."
