Danny Coid signed in a new two-year contract in June 2009
Blackpool have suffered a major blow ahead of the new season after defender Danny Coid sustained a hairline fracture to his tibia.
The 27-year-old picked up the injury during their pre-season game against Rochdale on Saturday.
Scans have revealed that Coid could be out for around three months.
Coid told BBC Radio Lancashire: "I've had two scans now and I'm just waiting for the second scan results to let me know what to do from here."
The Liverpool-born player, who recently signed a new two-year contract, has made over 300 appearances for the Seasiders.
"I went to challenge for the header, and as I've landed all my weight was on one side of my body on my leg and I've jarred my knee," added Coid.
"I've got a lot of bone bruising around my knee and a harline fracture on my tibia. When I did it I knew straight away I had done some damage to my knee.
"A couple of years ago I did the same to my left knee and was out for a few months then. At the moment I can walk pain free but it's when I straighten my knee it feels a bit unstable."
