Goulon had two years with Lyon before joining Middlesbrough

French midfielder Herold Goulon has joined Blackburn on a two-year contract with an option for a further season.

The 6ft 4in 22-year-old was at Lyon before joining Middlesbrough aged 18, but failed to play a first-team match.

Goulon had a season with Le Mans before leaving last summer and has been on trial at Rovers since September.

"I always wanted to come back because I think this is the best league in Europe, in the world. It was a target to come back here and stay," he said.
