Dunn underwent surgery on his hamstring in September
Blackburn midfielder David Dunn is eager to return to first-team action after recovering from an Achilles injury quicker than expected.
Dunn, who is in the Rovers squad to face Wigan on Saturday, has not played since picking up the injury in August.
"I've come back from injury far too many times a little bit early, so I wouldn't put myself at risk," Dunn, 28, told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"I'm back because I feel I'm ready. I feel fit and sharp."
Dunn had surgery on the problem in September and was initially told he would be out until the new year - but he feels the treatment he has received has helped speed up his recovery.
"The medical staff have been great, as they always are," Dunn added.
"I've been champing at the bit for a few weeks now and I thought a week or two ago that I fancied getting back in."
Dunn scored Blackburn's first goal in their 3-2 win at Everton on the opening day of the season but his side have only won three of their next 16 Premier League games and have slid to 19th in the table.
The former England international is anxious to help Rovers arrest that slump and believes they are better than their form suggests.
"We're playing quite good football at times," he added.
"There've been questions over our application, but if we apply ourselves like we did against Liverpool (on 6 December) then we'll have no problems.
"It's so easy for everyone to sit there and cast their opinions about things but it's only when you get out there on the pitch that you can stand up and let your actions so looking forward to leading by example."
