Rigters has signed a four-year deal with Blackburn |
Blackburn Rovers have won the race to sign NAC Breda striker Maceo Rigters for an undisclosed fee and he has signed a four-year deal at Ewood Park. Rigters starred for Holland as they won the Under-21 European Championships.
The 23-year-old had been linked with a host of British clubs including Celtic, Rangers, Newcastle and Norwich City.
Blackburn chairman John Williams said: "We've been following him for some time after manager Mark Hughes identified him as a player he was interested in."
Rigters was due to travel to Glasgow for signing talks with Celtic on Tuesday, but instead signed for Blackburn.
Rigters' goals in the Under-21 European Championships were enough to give him the golden boot as the tournament's top scorer.
A product of Ajax's youth academy, he has also played for Heerenveen and FC Dordrecht before joining NAC Breda in 2004.
