Nelsen broke the fibula in his leg in the April win at Charlton |
Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Nelsen will not travel on the club's pre-season tour of Germany and Holland. The 28-year-old has recovered from the broken leg he sustained in April but is now struggling with a minor hamstring problem and has been told to rest.
Rovers manager Mark Hughes said: "It is dragging on - it is a little bit of a niggle that he just can't shake off.
"He's continued to have treatment and we hope that is going to resolve itself sooner rather than later."
New Zealand international Nelsen will receive more intense treatment in an effort to get him fully fit before the new season, which Rovers start at Portsmouth on Saturday 19 August.
Blackburn's tour includes friendly games against Alemannia Aachen on Saturday and Sparta Rotterdam on Wednesday.
Goalkeeper Peter Enckelman is also sitting out the trip with an ankle injury, but David Bentley will travel to their Dutch training camp despite a foot problem.
