Blackburn striker Matt Derbyshire says he is grateful for the loan spell at Wrexham that earnt him a new contract. The 20-year-old spent three months at the Racecourse last season, impressing with 10 goals in 16 starts.
The youngster was then given a new two year deal at Ewood Park and hopes to become a Premiership regular next year.
"Coming to Wrexham helped, and I have thanked (Dragons manager) Denis Smith for giving me the chance to play," he told the Wrexham Evening Leader.

"When I was at Plymouth on loan, I knew I had the ability but never had the chance, making two league starts and 10 as a substitute.
"The manager who brought me in knew I could play but I did not get the opportunity under the new manager.
"However, Denis Smith gave me a chance and I showed what I can do. I really enjoyed it at Wrexham.
"The fans were great with and so was everyone at the club. I was delighted with my goal-scoring record with Wrexham, and I'm happy with what I achieved."
