Taylor kept a clean sheet for Northern Ireland in the Czech Republic last month
Birmingham City goalkeeper Maik Taylor has set his sights on facing Liverpool at Anfield after keeping a clean sheet on his return to Premier League action.
Taylor, 38, was recalled for Sunday's 0-0 home draw against Manchester City, to deputise for Alex McLeish's first- choice keeper, the ineligible Joe Hart.
"Joe's had a decent season up to now," Taylor told BBC WM. "But hopefully I've given the manager food for thought.
"He's paid to make decisions. Hopefully this one goes in my favour."
Taylor added: "I've had to work extremely hard in training, waiting for an opportunity and being patient.
He's proved again what a top class keeper he is and broke our hearts a little bit
Maik Taylor on Shay Given
"It's never easy. Ultimately, you want to play and be involved. You want that buzz of playing at the weekend."
Taylor was well protected by his back four against Mark Hughes' side. And he was particularly impressed by centre-backs Scott Dann and Roger Johnson who are in their first Premier League campaigns.
"They've settled in well, and they've taken to it really well," said the Northern Ireland international.
"They work extremely hard, they complement each other and that gives me confidence."
Taylor was also full of praise for his opposite number, Shay Given, who made several key saves for City, including James McFadden's penalty.
"It was a decent penalty but you have to give credit to Shay. He's pulled off a fantastic save.
"He pulled off a great save in the first half as well. He's proved again what a top-class keeper he is and broke our hearts a little bit."
