Jonathan Brown won six Welsh Under-21 caps in his days with Cardiff City
Bath City have signed former Wales Under-21 international Jonathan Brown on non-contract terms until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old former Cardiff City and Wrexham striker had been training with Swindon Town following his return from a stint in Australia.
After starting at Cardiff, Brown was loaned out to Wrexham two seasons ago, scoring three times in 21 games.
After his release by Cardiff, he joined Welsh League side Bryntirion Athletic.
"Jonathan is an attacking player who can also play wide," said Bath manager Adie Britton.
"He has experience in league football at Cardiff and he played over 20 times for Wrexham, so he's no stranger to this level.
"We've only seen him briefly in training but he looks good. We've signed him on non-contract terms to have a look at him and we'll see how it turns out."
I'm very happy with the signings. If we need to we may go back to the loan market and see how things go
Bath City Adie Britton
Brown is Britton's second signing of Bath's first January transfer window, following last week's arrival of Marley Watkins.
"The deal had been going on for some time," said Britton. "It looked at first like it would be a new loan deal but I didn't want that.
"I want to start building for next year. I didn't want to have someone in for three months and maybe lose another player because of that.
"We were able to arrange his transfer for a nominal fee and sign him to an 18-month contract.
"He's a good player. He showed he has good ability during his loan earlier in the season.
"We were limited to what we can bring in, but I'm very happy with the signings. If we need to we may go back to the loan market and see how things go."
