'Unfair treatment' angers Bayliss

Dave Bayliss
Bayliss believes his side have been badly treated this season

Barrow joint-boss Dave Bayliss has claimed his side continue to be unfairly treated by match officials.

Bayliss was angered by the dismissal of striker Lee McEvilly in the 3-0 win at Weymouth on Sunday.

"The referee put the second yellow in as foul play... it's very disappointing we're getting this treatment," Bayliss told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"We've lost a big player now only for some very, very poor officiating in my opinion," he added.

Bayliss has been critical throughout this season of what he sees as "unfair" treatment against his club following their promotion from Blue Square North.

As soon as we travel further south than the Midlands we seem to get a raw deal. Whether it's because we're new to the league... we're probably a team people like to hate

"I just think some people have got it in for Barrow Football Club," he said. "It's very disappointing that we've been getting this treatment off the officials."

Striker McEvilly, who has joined on loan from Rochdale until the end of the season, will now miss Thursday night's trip to his former club Wrexham as well as Saturday's visit of fellow strugglers Woking.

"I'm sure people watched that game on Sunday and thought 'what is that referee doing producing that second yellow card?'," Bayliss told BBC Radio Cumbria's Matchnight programme.

"We spoke to the referee after the game and he said he'd have a look. We said it was never a sending-off."

Bayliss, whose side lie 17th in the Blue Square Premier on the back of two wins from their last two games, believes the way Barrow have been treated this season makes them more determined to beat the drop.

"People have been knocking us all season," he said. "I sound like a broken record saying it every week.

"As soon as we travel further south than the Midlands we seem to get a raw deal. Whether it's because we're new to the league... we're probably a team people like to hate.

"That doesn't bother me but you want to get looked after a bit by the officials. Maybe if we can establish ourselves over the next couple of years, we might get (that), you never know."
