Campbell-Ryce joined Barnsley from Southend in August 2007
Barnsley will open contract negotiations with Jamal Campbell-Ryce as soon as the midfielder returns from international duty with Jamaica.
The 26-year-old former Rotherham winger agreed a three-year deal at Oakwell in October 2008 but was the target of a £1m bid from Reading in January.
"Because of clauses in his contract we need to sit down with him," manager Simon Davey told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"We promised to talk about his contract so that is what we are going to do."
Campbell-Ryce joined the Reds from Southend United in August 2007 and, after scoring nine goals last season, aroused interest from several clubs.
But Davey is desperate to keep the former Charlton trainee at Oakwell for the coming season and is confident that Campbell-Ryce will remain in South Yorkshire.
"We have had no contact from any club's though the close season for Jamal," said Davey.
"There was all the interest in January, but nothing happened at all in the last month to six weeks."
