Man of many clubs, defender Kevin James is heading from Perth to Ayr
Ayr United have signed Andy Aitken, following the capture of fellow defender Kevin James.
Aitken, 31, arrives from Queen of South, having ended a second spell with the Dumfries club.
James, 33, was released by St Johnstone after a loan spell at Somerset Park at the end of the season as he helped Ayr win promotion to Division One.
The former Falkirk, Hearts and Airdrieonians defender has signed a one-year contract, as has Aitken.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Stephen Grindlay and strikers Mark Roberts and Ryan Borris are the latest players to sign new contracts with Ayr for next season.
Ayr expect midfielder Kenny Connolly, the only member of the current squad still to sign, to put pen to paper on his return from holiday.
Midfielder Scott Agnew will return to his former club, Alloa Athletic, on loan next season.
Ayr had already released Scott Walker, the veteran defender having since joined Second Division Alloa on a permanent deal, while Fraser Stewart, Murray Henderson and Allan Dempsie also exited Somerset Park.
