Andy McLaren had been training with Kilmarnock |
Veteran winger Andy McLaren has signed for Ayr United after his recent triple red card led to his departure from First Division outfit Dundee. The 33-year-old McLaren will remain with Second Division Ayr until at least the end of the season.
Ayr assistant Robert Reilly said: "Andy is a player that we have been after for a wee while and we are delighted to have signed a player of his calibre."
McLaren still has three games of his suspension to serve.
So he will only be available for Ayr's final 10 games of the season.
McLaren told Ayr's website that he hoped to help them claim one of the promotion play-off places this season.
The winger, who had previously played for Dundee United, Reading, Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle, joined Dundee last summer after leaving Morton.
But the Dens Park outfit terminated McLaren's contract after his loss of temper against Clyde on 16 December.
He had been given training facilities by Scottish Premier League club Kilmarnock before joining local rivals Ayr.
